Danielle Phillips

Actor-Writer-Theatre Maker

Danielle trained as an actor at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Since graduating in 2016 she has specialised in developing new writing and devised work. She has made work with organisations including The RSC, Royal Court, Traverse Festival, Camden People’s Theatre, Hull Truck and Theatre 503.

She was a member of social activist theatre company LUNG (a fringe-first winning team) with whom she developed both E15 and The 56. For the latter she won the ‘Spotlight’s Most Promising Actor’ award in 2015. LUNG performed with BAC’s collaborative touring network for a season, delivering workshops in often excluded areas, without existing infrastructure for theatre. Her most recent performing credit is Judith in Ben Elton’s Olivier nominated The Upstart Crow at the Gielgud Theatre in the West End.

On screen as an actor, she has appeared in Apple TV’s Masters of the Air and Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One.

In 2021 she was nominated in the acting category for the ‘Evening Standard’s Future Theatre Award’’.

Looking ahead Danielle is keen to continue diversifying her skills beyond just performing. This year she is thrilled to begin two exciting new ventures; training as a theatre producer with China Plate Theatre and creatively leading on her project Children of the Night, in partnership with CAST and Right Up Our Street.

Children of the Night is a community project and theatre show celebrating the notorious clubland scene of donny in the 90s. Danni is excited by the opportunity to connect and collaborate with local artists going forward with this project.
